The Harwich Society has always supported National Heritage weekend and, for this year’s event, (10th & 11th Sep) almost all of its visitor attractions will be open to the public free of charge.
Chairman of the Harwich Society, Colin Farnell, says, “All of the Harwich Society visitor attractions that are presently open will be open free of charge to the public over National Heritage Weekend. With so much to see in such a small area, Historic Harwich really is the place to visit this weekend.”
There will be additional attractions at the Redoubt Fort with the Harwich Society’s very own Arthur the ARP Warden and Dad’s Army on parade to entertain visitors on Sunday 11th September.
“National heritage Weekend is a big event in Historic Harwich and we are delighted to host groups like Harwich Sing to enable them to be part of it,” continued Colin Farnell. “Harwich Town Council is opening the historic Guildhall to the public each afternoon and, with so many restaurants, pubs and cafes within easy walking distance, Historic Harwich is the perfect destination for a day out.”
The Harwich Society visitor attractions that are open free of charge to the public over National Heritage Weekend are as follows:
Bobbit’s Hole – Open Sunday 10AM-12PM
Captain Jones House – Open Sat & Sun 11AM – 3PM
Foresters – Open Sat & Sun 11AM – 3PM
Maritime Museum – Open Sat & Sun 10:30AM – 4PM
High Lighthouse – Open Sat & Sun 10AM – 4PM
Historic Walk – Sat only 2PM -3:30PM
Radar Tower – Sat & Sun 11AM – 3PM (Last admission 2:40PM)
Redoubt – Sat & Sun 10AM – 4PM
Visitors Information Centre – Sat & Sun 10AM – 5PM
The Guildhall will be open to the public free of charge on both Saturday and Sunday afternoon between 2.00PM and 4.00PM.
