The winter programme of monthly talks is the highlight of the Harwich Society programme of events for many members and the November talk on Friday 29th November will certainly be the start of Christmas within the Harwich Society.
Frances Boardman is the guest speaker on the topic of ‘A Medieval Christmas’ which will include aspects of food, traditions and celebrations in medieval times, a very interesting and entertaining subject as we begin the run up to our more modern festive activities.
Chairman of the Harwich Society, Colin Farnell, says, “Our winter programme of monthly talks is a popular part of the Harwich Society year and a talk on how Christmas was celebrated in medieval times will offer a fascinating lead in to Christmas. I’m sure everyone is looking forward to it.”
The talk will take place in the Navigator in Barrack Lane beginning at 7.30PM on Friday 29th November and is free of charge to all Harwich Society members. A raffle and refreshments will accompany the talk.
“The Harwich Society Winter programme of monthly talks cover a wide variety of topics but nothing could be more timely as we head into the festive season,” continued Colin Farnell. “I’m sure that finding out how Christmas was celebrated so long ago will be a great way to begin Christmas 2024 in Historic Harwich!”
