World War II submariner to speak at Harwich Society Monthly meeting

The Winter Programme of monthly guest speakers is, for many Harwich Society members, the highlight of the Harwich Society calendar and the February meeting will be particularly interesting as the guest speaker is Fred Henley who served as a submariner during World War II on HMS Truculent.

The meeting will take place at Navigator Hall, Barrack Lane on Friday 22nd February and Mr Henley’s appearance as guest speaker is a rearrangement due to the originally advertised speaker becoming unavailable on this particular date.

Chairman of the Harwich Society, Colin Farnell, says, “Our Winter programme of monthly meetings with guest speakers is free to all Harwich Society members and the high numbers who attend show how popular the meetings are.  I’m sure that Mr Henley’s first hand account of what it was like to be on a World War II submarine is going to be truly fascinating.”
