We should have played ‘Dancing Queen’!

The Harwich Society Quiz Team only made one mistake putting together the music quiz in aid of the Mayoress’ Appeal and that was not to include Abba’s Dancing Queen in the 100 pieces of music.

Everyone knew that Harwich’s mayoress, Sylvia Todd, would sing throughout the entire quiz but she went one better and became the first member of a team ever to get up and dance during one of the rounds.

14 teams packed the Royal Oak for the final music quiz of 2019 and everyone was clearly there to make it a very special evening. Tequila Mockingbird won the quiz with a remarkable 93 out of 100 and the quiz raised £350 for the Mayoress’ Appeal with the Royal Oak generously providing the hall free of charge for the charity event.

Colin Perry, who hosted the evening, says, “Our music quizzes always have a great atmosphere but I can’t remember one quite as special as that. Sylvie Todd was definitely our Dancing Queen and everyone there went home very happy. It was a great night supporting a great cause.”
