Friday 27th February is the date of the next talk in the Harwich Society’s winter programme of monthly talks and the topic will certainly be of interest for all of us living by the sea.
The talk is titled ‘Essex Lights’ and will be given by Peter Jones.
It is a history of navigation around the Essex coast so Harwich will certainly feature.
Harwich Society chairman, Andy Schooler, says, “As the Essex coast runs all the way from the south bank of the River Stour to the north bank of the Thames there is a large area to cover but I am sure that Harwich’s maritime importance will ensure that we get a mention. This is certainly going to be a very interesting talk.”
The talk will take place in the Navigator in Barrack Lane, Harwich and will begin at 7.30PM. Teas and coffees will be available and the talk is free to all members, a feature of Harwich Society membership that is particularly valued by many.
“Not only does Essex have a very large coastline but it has been ever changing over the centuries,” continued Andy Schooler. “I am sure that even the dedicated boat owners among our membership will learn something new from this talk.”
