Throughout the winter months the Harwich Society arranges monthly meetings with guest speakers and the first meeting of the 2025/26 Winter programme will take place this Friday, 26th September.
The meetings take place on the final Friday of each month in the Navigator in Barrack Lane commencing at 7.30PM and entry is free of charge to all Harwich Society members. Refreshments are available and for many Harwich Society members the meetings are a big part of Harwich Society membership.
Harwich Society chairman, Andy Schooler, says, “Along with unlimited free admission to all of our visitor attractions throughout the summer, the monthly winter programme of talks is a very popular part of Harwich Society membership and the guest speakers provide a wide range of interesting subjects for our members to learn about.”
The first talk of the winter season will be given by Adam Whiteman of the Colchester Archaeological Trust and is titled ‘Unearthing the Unexpected – New discoveries in Roman Colchester’.
“Adam is a regular speaker at our winter meetings and always provides a fascinating insight into the latest developments in the archaeology in the Colchester area,” continued Andy Schooler. “I’m sure that he will get our winter programme off to a great start.”
