Monthly talks begin with the history of Colchester Zoo

For many Harwich Society members the most enjoyable part of the year is the winter programme of monthly talks.

The Harwich Society arranges a talk each month throughout the winter from September to March on a wide variety of interesting topics and these are free of charge for Harwich Society members.

Harwich Society chairman, Colin Farnell, says, “As our visitor attractions close down after the summer season the programme of winter talks begins. The Harwich Society really is an all year round organisation and for many members the winter programme of talks is their favourite bit.”

The talks take place in the Navigator Hall in Barrack Lane on the last Friday of each month. The doors open at 7PM for a 7.30PM start and teas and coffees are available.

The first talk of the winter programme is a change to the advertised programme and will be Andy Moore from Colchester Zoo giving a talk on ‘the History of Colchester Zoo’.

“Many of us have watched the development of Colchester Zoo over the years and I am sure it will be fascinating to have its history laid out before us,” continued Colin Farnell. “With unlimited free access to Harwich Society visitor attractions and the free programme of monthly talks throughout the winter, Harwich Society membership is very good value for money.”
