Are you the person to showcase Harwich’s maritime history?
The Harwich Society is looking for a new curator at its very popular Maritime Museum and would be delighted to hear from you if you think you would like the role.
The Maritime Museum contains a remarkable collection of photos, documents and memorabilia covering the amazing maritime history of Harwich, its ships and its seafarers and there is a team of volunteers who staff it for visitors throughout the Summer season.
John Goodchild, who has been the museum’s curator for a number of years, has decided it is time to hang up his lifebelt and so the Society is seeking a replacement.
Maria Fowler, secretary of the Harwich Society, says, “We are extremely grateful to John for his dedication to the museum and for all that he has done alongside the team to make it such an interesting and important focal point for Harwich’s maritime history. I am sure that someone will love the opportunity to carry on his great work.”
The role of the curator is to oversee the administration and curation of the Harwich Society’s Maritime Museum and to work alongside the museum’s great team of volunteers.
