Colin Farnell stands down as Harwich Society chairman

After thirteen years as the chairman of the Harwich Society, Colin Farnell has stood down from the role.  His resignation was accepted at a meeting of the Harwich Society’s board of trustees on Tuesday evening with vice chairman, Andy Schooler being elected as the new chairman.  Colin Farnell was then elected as the new vice president of the Harwich Society, an honorary role vacant since the passing earlier in the year of Colin Crawford.

Colin Farnell says, “It has been both a pleasure and a privilege to be the Harwich Society’s chairman.  The Society is full of wonderful people who care about our town and it has been an honour to play a leading role in such a special organisation.  I will still be attending Trustees’ meetings in my new role as vice president and wish Andy Schooler every success as the Society’s new chairman.”

Presentations of gift vouchers from the trustees were made to Colin and Aileen Farnell following the meeting.

New Harwich Society chairman, Andy Schooler, says, “I am very grateful to my fellow trustees for having the confidence in me to succeed Colin Farnell as chairman.  The Harwich Society is a voluntary organisation that achieves so much for our town and Colin and Aileen have been at the heart of it for many years.  They have done both Harwich and the Harwich Society proud!”
