A great reaction to Dovercourt’s new mural

There has already been a great community reaction to the new mural being painted on to the wall of Superdrug in Dovercourt Town Centre and the Harwich Society is delighted by the positive response.

The Harwich Society led project to replace the old mural with the new design is well under way and the work of former Mercury Theatre set designer, Simon Sharman, who has been commissioned to design and paint the new mural, is being widely praised.

Harwich Society chairman, Colin Farnell, says, “The feedback is extremely positive and we are being told of people who are regularly visiting the site just to see what has been added.  The new mural is already very popular without having been completed!”

The project will cost in the region of £3,500 with contributions coming from the Harwich Society itself, along with partner funders including Harwich Town Council and Dovercourt Town Centre traders.

“With all of the difficulties being faced at present it is lovely to have something positive to focus on and the new mural is certainly lifting people’s spirits,” continued Colin Farnell.  “We knew from Simon’s design work that it was going to be special but as it is coming to life on the wall it looks truly amazing.  It has taken longer to bring this project to fruition than we had anticipated but it has clearly been worth the time and effort.”
