Purfleet Heritage and Military Centre is located in Magazine No.5, built between 1762 and 1765 it is the Last remaining Magazine of five that once made up the Purfleet Royal Magazines for Gunpowder on the banks of the Thames.
During its past the Magazine has been visited by such notable figures as Benjamin Franklin and Captain Cook. Historical vessels supplied by the magazine include HMS Warrior, HMS Bounty, HMS Beagle and the Endeavour and Resolution.
