Swan House - 1500
Otherwise known as 14 King's Head St.

A rich merchant's house - the original overhanging upper storey has been filled in to steal part of the pavement. There is a carved beam over the door.
The interior contains further carved beams, a fine pargetted ceiling in six panels, and a medieval wall painting. The end gate and window is infilling of a previous entrance to the stables.
In the 18th century it was the Ship public house, formerly the Bell and Dragon public house, and in the 19th/20th century, New Swan Inn.
It is now a private house, but is open occasionally for art exhibitions and viewing.
