A GLIMPSE OF A FORMER TIME                                                  Albert & Daisy Brunning who used to go round all the local villages selling hardware, paraffin etc. This photograph was taken circa 1932 on the Harwich side of Wix crossroads and is courtesy  of John Mortimer, great nephew of the couple.  LADY GODIVA OF DOVERCOURT           Lady Godiva rode through the streets of Dovercourt at Easter 1960 to raise money for World Refugee Year. A huge crowd saw her set off from Hall Lane.  Preceded by a Police escort, Lady Godiva (portrayed by Wendy  Raven), and followed by Peeping Tom (one William  Bleakley) attracted a great deal of attention as she rode  to the Drill Hall (now Park Pavilion) to open a fete  organised by Harwich Customs Social Club. While the fund raising fete was a success, its opening by Lady  Godiva far eclipsed the fete itself.
